“A Moderate Democrat For Changing and Challenging Times”
We live in a beautiful and diverse nation. As we continue to strive to form a more perfect union, we must work together to produce a society that exceeds every expectation. Not only do I believe that, but I have also seen it with my own eyes. I am living proof of its power and influence.
Born in Metro Detroit, I was blessed to grow up with a diverse group of family, friends, and neighbors. My mother was a single Black woman who lost everything yet did her best raising three boys. While she worked long hours, our Mama Onashen, a Middle Eastern godmother, and nanny took us three boys into her home, and treated us as family, all while speaking barely a word of English.
I watched the parents of my Latin and South American friends working three jobs to provide a better life for the next generation. Some of our White neighbors grew up with different and sometimes divisive beliefs about people of color. I watched those perceptions gradually change, as they went on to embrace a more inclusive way of thinking. I have witnessed Black fathers defy every stereotype, and go on to achieve life’s greatest victories, from college graduations and home ownership, to the most important responsibility of all, caring for their families.
My name is Kiambo White, (Bo) to family and friends, and I am a Moderate Democrat asking for your support and vote as the next representative in Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District. Based on what I have seen, I know firsthand that while success is not guaranteed, with the proper tools and resources, it is always a possibility, regardless of race, gender, religion, or socioeconomic status.
I believe to my core that the facts and the truth never take a day off.
Our state, country and world are at a crossroads; climate awareness, drug issues, food insecurity, gun violence, healthcare, housing, a sustainable wage, and women’s reproductive rights are just a few of the issues that demand our attention and our action. The choices and decisions we make today will affect us all for years to come. Those who come after us will look back with a sense of clarity that too many of us are lacking today. The question is how do you want to be remembered?
“I first came to Maryland in 2008 as I began an internship with the Congressional Black Caucus Institute.”
My employment experience prior to was in hospitality, sales, and small business development. I have since worked with the National Building Trades and some of the largest unions in North America. Currently I serve as national representative for a governmental union. These opportunities have allowed me to live and work in a variety of Urban, Suburban and Rural hubs, providing a unique perspective on our state and national landscape. This is just part of what I bring to the table.
“Today, our vision must be to discover new possibilities where most see none ...”
… and welcome the moments that can change everything.
During my down or quiet time, I love reading, movies, music, collegiate and professional sports. I also love going to the mountains. Bartending, cooking, playing darts, and especially spending time with my kids, family, and friends.
Contributions are welcomed and volunteers are wanted!
I appreciate your time, and I cannot do this without you!
